“Boebert Is One of the Dumbest Politicians in History”: Lauren Boebert Mortified on House Floor as Democrat Reveals Her Ineptitude

Representative Lauren Boebert seemingly didn’t know how to respond when Representative Steny Hoyer asked her to further explain her proposed amendment to a bill.

An Anti-Refugee Stance

The bill in question was the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. Boebert, known for her far-right views, proposed an amendment that would prohibit “the use of funds made available by this act to be used to provide financial assistance to sanctuary cities.”

An Incredibly Awkward Pause

“I rise in perplexion,” Hoyer said in response, before going on to ask Boebert exactly what funds in the bill were supposedly going to sanctuary cities. His question was followed by a long, awkward pause in which Boebert spoke to an aide.

A Precautionary Amendment

“Sorry, I couldn’t hear, gentleman. I was getting clarification,” Boebert said after some time. “This is precautionary,” she concluded, conveying that she was unaware of any such funds in the bill. Hoyer then asked: “Precautionary for what?”

Boebert’s Unhinged Rant

Boebert proceeded to rant about “sanctuary city policies that are in place that are allowing the refuge of illegal aliens – and there is an influx of crime and drugs in these cities.” Research suggests that sanctuary policies do not lead to a rise in crime rates.

Hoyer Kept Pushing

“I understand that but what you’ve said – none of the funds in this bill can be spent for that objective – what funds are in this bill that are to be spent for this objective?” Hoyer asked, clearly attempting to help Boebert realize that her amendment was meaningless.

An Important Subject

“I have seen this administration use all sorts of funds to protect illegal aliens,” Boebert replied, rather than answering the question. Hoyer was quick to interject: “Reclaiming my time. There are no funds in this bill to do that. So, this is just an opportunity for you to stand and perhaps speak about an important subject. I understand that but there are no funds in this bill to accomplish that objective.”

Ignorant, Incompetent, and Uneducated

It’s unclear whether Boebert was unaware of the details of the bill or whether she was merely looking for an excuse to rant about refugees and asylum seekers. Either way, Hoyer made her look ignorant, incompetent, and uneducated.

The Internet’s Response

News of Hoyer’s expert takedown was shared across the internet and people had a lot to say about the matter. Quite a few commenters pointed to Boebert’s lack of education in comparison to her colleagues. Others praised Hoyer for his calm demeanor and well-thought-out words.

“Dumb” and “Stupid”

Some commenters were highly critical of Boebert’s intelligence, using words like “dumb” and “stupid.” One individual suggested that having ‘uneducated’ politicians could be dangerous and plenty of people said Boebert wasn’t qualified for the job.

A Battle of Wits

“She never completed high school and failed the GED three times before having someone else take it for her. My six-year-old could destroy her in a battle of wits,” one social media commenter said. “A battle of wits? Bobert is unarmed!” another replied.

Wild, Unsubstantiated Claims

People praised Hoyer for the way he dealt with the situation. One such individual wrote: “That’s a solid tactic. Make her present the substance of her ‘argument’ rather than just responding angrily to her wild, unsubstantiated claims.”

A Poorly Educated Politician

Another commenter said: “This is just a mild example of the atrocities that result from poorly educated people voting for poorly educated candidates. Even after completing her [second] term as a congresswoman, Boebert will not know much more than her average constituent about governance.”

Failing To Understand Parliamentary Procedure

Plenty of people said Boebert acted as if she didn’t know what was going on: “I think that another interesting thing that this exposes is that, even after being in the House for over two years, she doesn’t understand something as fundamental to the operation of the House as parliamentary procedure. She doesn’t seem to understand what is going on or how to properly respond when Hoyer asks her to yield for a question.”

Vapid and Hysterical

Others were critical of the far-right as a whole: “Sadly, Boebert’s intelligence level is in line with more Americans than I’d like to admit and that’s not a crime in itself. The bigger issue is her ugly belligerence and indifference to actual knowledge. Instead of trying to become informed and genuinely understand an issue, she’d rather be vapid and hysterical. That’s the case for every MAGA politician. They’re empty-headed.”

Speaking From a Script

One person pointed out that it felt as if Boebert had a script and didn’t know how to respond when someone interjected with a question: “Sounds like she’s speaking from a script and then when someone throws a question at her, she has to be told by an aide about what she should say.”

Boebert’s Not Qualified

Quite a few commenters pointed to Boebert’s lack of education: “Boebert does not research real facts and so does not have anything accurate to debate. She is simply not qualified for this job. Anyone running for office should have to apply with a resume showing their qualifications, along with a background check before they are allowed to campaign.”

Wasting the House’s Time

“He basically told her that she was wasting the House’s time, which she was. This bill had nothing to do with what she wanted to talk about,” one individual wrote, summarizing the interaction in a concise way. “He pretty much just shut her down and told her that her point was irrelevant,” another echoed.

A Laughable Statement

Others criticized the way Boebert so confidently asserted that her amendment was “precautionary.” One person said: “Boebert is one of the dumbest politicians in history. She has to be. This was beyond stupid and the confident ‘this is precautionary’ was absolutely laughable.”
