Renowned author Stephen King, known for his longstanding criticism of Trump, sparked a fierce backlash after his recent social media post labeled the former president “a crook.” King’s comment was in response to actor Kevin Sorbo’s post, who had praised Trump as “a cool guy.” The online exchange between King and Sorbo, reflecting their divergent views on Trump, sparked further engagement and backlash online.

Did Trump Hurt His Feelings?

In a recent post on X, Kevin Sorbo, an actor well known for his leading role in the television series Hercules, wrote, “He’s just a cool guy” while sharing a video of former President Trump. Stephen King posted in response to Sorbo, stating, “He’s a crook.” Others added to the thread in response to King’s and Sorbo’s online exchange. “You should write a scary book about how Trump hurt your feelings,” said one online user.

“Weren’t you on Epstein island?” added another. The remark emerged in connection with allegations that King had undertaken numerous visits to the private Caribbean Island, predating the revelation of Epstein’s trafficking of young girls to the location. “He’s your next President,” wrote another Trump supporter.

MAGA, the Modern Day Nazi Party

However, some users did come to the author’s defense. One user, in response to King’s comment that Trump was “a crook,” wrote, “He’s MAGA’s Fuhrer, and eerily similar to Hitler. Hence, why he is becoming more and more bold. Including, but not limiting to, wanting to remain in office, permanently, and have executed his opposition. Sound familiar? MAGA is the modern day NAZI party. No other way to put it.”

In a Pickle?

It is not the first time that King and Sorbo have exchanged views online. Sorbo had voiced his views recently concerning Trump’s New York fraud trial and posted, “’I decline to answer’ should be a felony crime for any politician.” King shared Sorbo’s post and responded, “Trump took the 5th many times in his depo. As Harry Bosch says, “When you’re in a pickle, take the nickle.”

Turning On Your People

Another user posted, “I agree. Time to get Trump, Jim Jordan, and the rest of the domestic terror squad. What made you finally turn on your people?” the user asked Sorbo.

Sorbo Critical of Democrats and Biden

Sorbo has also raised eyebrows for his controversial remarks. In one post, he wrote, “If you are Jewish and keep voting for Democrats…you are an idiot. Oh, that goes for African-Americans, too.” In 2014, Sorbo was accused of being anti-semitic after he defended Mel Gibson’s 2004 film “The Passion of the Christ.”

According to Christian Today, Sorbo had commented on the film, stating, “News bulletin: you did kill Jesus!” The Hercules actor had subsequently apologized for his comments but not for his views on the film.

Christian Beliefs “Blacklisted” Him From Hollywood

Recently, Sorbo asserted that he was “blacklisted” from Hollywood due to his religious and conservative viewpoints. He noted that he became aware of the industry’s exclusion after severing ties with his agent.

Sorbo had told Fox News, “It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative.”

An Industry That Screams for Tolerance

The actor added, “And I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street. It screams for freedom of speech. But Hollywood’s a one-way street as well. And that’s just too bad, you know. But I love the industry. I love the movies and TV.”

In stark contrast, Stephen King has come out in support of President Biden and has continued to comment on Republican views and posts online. Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently posted concerning the Israel/Hamas war, which garnered the attention of the author.

MTG, Not a Single Dollar Has Been Spent on War

She wrote, “Israel is literally dominating in their war with Hamas after being brutally attacked killing thousands of innocent people, and not one single American dollar has been spent on that war yet. Just think about that.”

King responded to Rep. Greene’s post by asking, “Are you tripping? We’ve given them aid and armaments for decades,” he pointed out.

Stephen King has even posted that Trump was the “Worst. President. Ever,” branding him “a sociopath and a criminal,”

In 2022, Stephen King directed his criticism towards Donald Trump in the midst of allegations that the former President unlawfully removed classified documents from the White House. In an interview with the Sunday Times, King said: “I happen to think that Trump was a horrible president and is a horrible person.”

Trump Couldn’t Admit He Lost

King told Osman from the Sunday Times, “I think he actually engaged in criminal behavior and, certainly, I felt that he was a sociopath who tried to overturn the American democracy not out of any political wish of his own but because he could not admit that he had lost.”

The Rise of Fascism

King was also asked about the rise of fascism in America. He stated, “There is a strong right wing, a political right wing in America, and they have a megaphone in some of the media. They’re not fascists but they’re hard right-wingers. They’re certainly climate change deniers, so that is a real problem.”
