“Biden Is Not a Leader, He Is a Divider”: Biden Campaign Causes Internet Meltdown With “Crazy MAGA Nonsense” Social Media Post

The Biden campaign has taken to social media to advise Americans on how to respond to “crazy MAGA nonsense.”

Appropriate Pro-Biden Responses

The social media post in question was made up of eight slides. The first was a title slide. After that, each one began with a common pro-Trump argument before giving examples of appropriate pro-Biden responses.

Trump, Biden, and the Economy

“The economy was better during Trump!” the first pro-Trump argument read. Recommended comebacks included: “Trump had the worst jobs record of any president since the Great Depression” and “Inflation is the lowest it’s been in two years, the economy is growing, and unemployment has been under 4% for the longest stretch on record.”

Social Security and Medicare

The next pro-Trump argument claimed that the former president would “protect” Social Security and Medicare. The main recommended response read: “Trump tried to cut Social Security and Medicare every year he was in office. Every. Single. Year.”

Trump and the Border

The next MAGA argument centered around the idea that Trump, while president, secured the border. “All he did was separate families, put children in cages, and leave behind a broken immigration system for Joe Biden to clean up,” the recommended response read. It also said: “Now, if he’s reelected, he’s promising to make it worse [by] rounding up Latinos into mass detention camps, ending birthright citizenship, and shooting people at will.”

Trump and Abortion

“There’s no federal ban on abortion. You can still get one – what’s the big deal?” the next pro-Trump argument claimed. The recommended response read: “MAGA Republicans running for president would push for a federal ban if elected. Trump endorsed a federal ban and said there should be punishment for women who have an abortion.”

Trump, Jobs, and Workers

The next MAGA argument claimed that Trump is “better for workers.” The recommended response delved into the former president’s history on the topic: “Trump promised no factories would close and jobs would come back – then he cut taxes for rich people, shipped jobs overseas, and factories were forced to shut. President Biden is the most pro-union president in history and created 800,000 manufacturing jobs.”

International Opinion on Trump

“World leaders respected Trump and the world was safer,” the next pro-Trump point claimed. Jumping into the former president’s history of admiring dictators, the recommended response said: “Heads of state literally laughed and mocked Trump. He negotiated with the Taliban, sent love letters to Kim Jong Un while letting him and Iran pursue nukes and doing nothing to push back on Chinese aggression. Now, he’s praised Putin as ‘smart’ and ‘savvy’ for invading Ukraine.”

Trump in the Polls

“Trump is winning in the polls,” the final MAGA argument said. The recommended responses centered around the fact that polls are often inaccurate and that plenty of politicians have secured victories when predictions weren’t in their favor.

A Good Intention

The Biden campaign’s intention was clearly to provide supporters with some concise comebacks to common MAGA arguments and to help foster healthy and intellectual debate. However, the lack of detail in their proposed responses may have been detrimental to their goal.

Some Very Good Points

While the slides all made some very good points, they lacked nuance and felt very similar to the kind of arguments people often put forward in social media comment sections. The online response was mixed, with many people agreeing with the message while others labeled it as “propaganda.”

Trump’s Super Rich Friends

One individual said: “Let us be clear. [Trump] did not cut taxes for his super-rich friends. He cut them for himself and his family. The fact that his super-rich friends benefited from it was just a side note and a way to pay them back for donations.”

The Ignorance of MAGA

Another person wrote: “I feel like all of these were too brief to actually do any good. But yeah, it is completely insane when people say that Trump will protect Medicare and Social Security. That claim in itself just shows that these people know nothing about politics.”

Too Early for Polls

Others discussed the final slide: “I honestly find it ridiculous that we even look at polls this early. Late polls have been shown to be inaccurate. How can anyone honestly take a poll seriously a year before the election?”

A Beyond Worrying Situation

One person was rather shocked by the slide about Trump and workers: “I’m sorry… there are people saying that Trump is better for workers? Do… do these people know what ‘right-wing’ and ‘left-wing’ mean and entail? This is beyond worrying.”

Biden and Leadership

But despite the aforementioned opinions, a lot of people rejected the Biden campaign’s message. One such commenter said: “Biden is not a leader. He is a divider. He has done more to divide the country than even Obama did. Too bad he is so senile that he can’t accept responsibility.”

Pro-Biden Propaganda

Quite a few people felt that the message was “propaganda.” One individual wrote: “Ah, more Biden propaganda. I think you’ll be extremely disappointed to find that the vast majority of Americans can see through this.”

Trump, Biden, and the Constitution

Despite the fact that Trump has called for the Constitution to be terminated, another person said: “[The Biden campaign’s] hatred for the Constitution and Christian values is beyond comprehension. Imagine what America would look like if Biden was given another four years.”

Some Wild Claims

When commenters defended Trump, they often boldly made very inaccurate claims. One individual went as far as to assert that there was no war in the world, and no inflation in America, while he was president: “Under Trump, there was no inflation, no war, secure borders, affordable food and fuel, unemployment at record lows for all demographics, poverty rates hit record lows, [and he] cut taxes for all Americans.”
