Later on Sunday, McClatchy columnist Isaac Bailey delivered a scathing critique of the former president and the “cowards” who allowed him to play.

Bailey said that the game, which he called “a quasi-religious holiday in the Palmetto State,” now bears the “stench” of a Trump presence in a commentary that was published on Sunday by South Carolina’s “The State.”

The former president was joined by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R), who the blogger harshly criticized, calling him “a 91-time indicted and credibly accused sexual abuser.” The governor “should be ashamed,” the columnist said. “But you’d have to possess a shred of integrity for shame to be even a possibility, so I get why he isn’t.”

“The University of South Carolina should be ashamed. But it is apparently run by cowards comfortable bending the knee to an obviously-compromised governor, and an even more compromised presidential candidate who inspired a violent attack at the heart of our democracy just a couple years ago,” the author stated.

Whoever Signed Off on That Pathetic Trump Parade Should Be Fired

“Whoever signed off on that pathetic Trump parade should be fired, though I suspect given how far we’ve fallen from any sense of decency, they may have already received a raise,” he further added.

More Evidence the Former President Is a “Coward”

In keeping with that, he brought up the fact that Trump attended the South Carolina football game but declined to appear on the debate platform alongside former governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), who is vying for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024. Bailey asserted that this proves the previous president is a “coward.”

Witless Show of Machismo and Arrogance

He continued, “Haley’s team won the football game, and she won an important political victory against a man who brags about how tough he is but whose decision to fly into Columbia was political weakness. It’s that they knew everyone with the power to stop their witless show of machismo and arrogance would roll over and let them do whatever the heck they wanted to do.”

The Naked Coward’s Bully He’s Long Been

“McMaster and others pretended the man they treated like an emperor had new clothes. But those of us with eyes, and a functioning brain, know the truth, that he was exposed as the naked coward’s bully he’s long been.”

After her alma college, Clemson, won the annual Palmetto Bowl, former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley also made a small swipe at the University of South Carolina.

“How’d it work out for the Gamecocks having Trump show up?” Haley made light of the situation when speaking at a Bluffton town hall on Monday. “Not so lucky for the Gamecocks, just sayin’. Go Tigers.”

Trump gave popcorn boxes to patrons on the concourse when he arrived at USC’s Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Later, he watched the first half of the game in a suite. As he approached the 25-yard line and waved to the fans with McMaster during halftime, Trump was acknowledged.

Haley did not attend the game on Saturday. Haley was the Trump administration’s ambassador to the UN. Haley, a trustee at Clemson, has, however, been to other games this season.

Haley’s Talking Points

Speaking to a gathering of around 1,000 people inside the center and an additional 100 outside who were watching a live broadcast, Haley’s talking themes on Monday included term limits, tightening up the southern border, and the nation’s debt, conceding that both Republicans and Democrats had a hand in spending irresponsibly.

Make Him Ride Into the Sunset

People across the internet weren’t too surprised at Trump being slammed for his attendance at the game. “Good grief… both sides need to learn to ignore the idiot. He loves ALL the attention- positive and negative. It makes it work to his advantage. I wish everyone would ignore him and MAKE him ride into the sunset,” remarked one user on Reddit.
