Former president Trump has roasted Fox News for failing to include his supporters in a piece about voters’ views, saying they left them out while focusing on those of other candidates.
Social Media Outburst
Trump suggested sarcastically on his Truth Social platform that the right-wing news channel that’s normally supportive of him that they didn’t bother trying to find MAGA voters to give their opinions. MAGA is the acronym for Trump’s presidential campaign that has morphed into a movement: Make America Great Again.
‘Crooked Joe’ Voter
Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, giving his derogatory nickname for President Joe Biden: “FoxNews worked hard today, and were able to find 3 representative voters to go on the show. One was for Crooked Joe, where the person found nothing mentally wrong with him.”
Biden Concerns
President Biden is the oldest person to be elected US president and is now 81. He has recently tripped and stumbled on stage and while on the steps of Air Force One, the presidential plane. Biden has also appeared incoherent while giving speeches, press conferences and in remarks to reporters, raising concerns about his advanced age and overall health.
‘Birdbrain’ and ‘DeSanctimonious’ Supporters
Trump continued in his Truth Social rant, this time using his disparaging nicknames for GOP nominee rivals Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. “Another was for Birdbrain, and the 3rd for Ron DeSanctimonious,” he wrote.
‘Leader but No On-Air Voters’
Trump, 77, then mentioned his frontrunner status in the Republican Party field for the 2024 presidential nomination. “Considering that I’m leading Biden by 11 Points [Washington Post poll], and leading the Republicans by over 50 Points, Fox News must have worked very hard not to find a TRUMPER?”
In Agreement with Trump
Many people online agreed with Trump’s assessment of Fox News and its show missing MAGA supporters as it gave voice to those of rival candidates.
Fox ‘Fake News’
One person wrote: “Fox has shown itself to be establishment-controlled opposition. Now they are viewed as the same as the rest of the Fake News.
‘Ignoring Trump’
Another person, writing on X, the platform formerly called Twitter, suggested Fox News had turned against Trump. “Fox is trying to pretend you don’t exist and don’t want to give you publicity,” they said.
Fox on ‘Dark Side’
Someone else, also commenting on X, said they believed the conservative news channel was now more liberal. “They have their narrative. They are impossible to watch — was hard for me to, but Fox has turned to the dark side.”
Trump Even Further Ahead
A new Harvard/Harris poll gives Trump an even wider lead over the GOP pack seeking the party’s nomination in primaries in January, compared to previous polls. The former president has 67 percent support among Republican voters, compared to 9 percent for DeSantis and 8 percent for Haley. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy is at just 5 percent while former New Jersey governor Chris Christie has a mere 3 percent.
‘Christie Dead in Water’
Commenting on the poll’s findings, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Christie, a fierce critic of his, was “dead in the water, a total loser!”
Republican Debates
And Trump hit out at the Republican primary debates, which he has refused to take part in, pointing to his runaway lead over rivals. He also referenced the 2020 presidential election he lost to Joe Biden, which Trump continues to believe was “rigged” and “stolen” from him.
Anger at GOP
He wrote: “TRUMP UP 7% to 10% on CROOKED JOE BIDEN. RNC must save money on lowest ever ratings debates. Use it against the Democrats to STOP THE STEAL! If not, REVAMP THE RNC, NOW!!!”
Biggest Voter Issues
The Harvard/Harris poll found that the most pressing issues for voters heading into the 2024 presidential election year were price increases and inflation, with 30 percent of respondents most concerned about it. That was followed by immigration (25 percent) amid a surge in illegal migrants crossing the southern US border with Mexico, and the overall economy and jobs (24 percent of respondents).
Crime, Healthcare, Terrorism
Other voter issues included crime and drugs (17 percent), healthcare (16 percent) and terrorism and national security (14 percent of respondents).
Trump’s Big Problems
Trump may be the GOP leader for its candidate for the 2024 race, but he is battling a total of 91 criminal charges brought under four indictments that include charges he tried to overturn the result of the 2020 election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
