The FBI identified Frederic Fiol, 41, through Facebook posts and photos from the scene as a participant in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot intended to overturn the election of President Joe Biden, a federal arrest warrant shows.

Court records have revealed that the rioter, ridiculed for blindly following Donald Trump, has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Cover Up Attempts

According to an informant, Fiol sent videos and photos to them via Facebook Messenger that showed him inside the Capitol building during the insurrection. He allegedly ‘unsent’ the messages later in a bid to deny his involvement.

Frederic Fiol, criticized on social media for his involvement, becomes one of over 700 individuals admitting guilt in crimes jeopardizing the peaceful transfer of power to President Joe Biden, as documented in federal court records and reports.

On Jan. 6, 2021, two months after Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election, mob-handed supporters stormed the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Threatening the peaceful transfer of power, scores of law enforcement officers were injured, and a panicked evacuation of the nation’s political leaders ensued.

Statement of Offense

In a statement of offense filed on Wednesday in Washington’s U.S. District Court, Fiol’s signature is apparent alongside details of his trip from San Antonio to D.C. in January 2021.

As per the official record, Fiol accessed the Capitol premises around 3:10 p.m., navigating past a damaged window. He then spent a brief period in a U.S. senator’s office before proceeding to the building’s Crypt.

Incriminating Evidence

In one of the messages, Fiol sent the unnamed informant a video of someone filming him as he moved inside the U.S. Capitol building.

Making History Declaration

When the recipient questioned his involvement, Fiol declared that he was ‘making history.’ The statement indicates that Fiol recorded himself smoking a “hand-rolled cigarette with an unknown substance.”

Ant-Trump Backlash

In a Facebook discussion, Fiol defended himself when a social media acquaintance criticized Trump as a “psychopath,” as reported by Raw Story.

Denial of Involvement

In a shocking admission, Fiol replied. “They let people walk in and take selfies with cops. That happened hours before I got there!”

Telecoms Tracking

Fiol’s downfall pertained to the tracking of his cell phone when federal investigators were able to track his movements on the day of the insurrection.

Confirmation of Location

They concluded that “During and around the time of the breach of the Capitol, the cell phone associated with Fiol’s phone number utilized a cell site consistent with providing service to a geographic area that included the interior of the Capitol building.”

Undeniable Capitol Presence

In another twist of fate, Fiol’s cellphone was directly linked to his Facebook account which further served to place him at the scene and incriminate him.

Accomplices Allegations

The arrest warrant also highlighted Fiol’s rioter accomplice who identified as someone who had already been charged and pled guilty to his involvement in the insurrection, and who later confirmed Fiol’s involvement.

According to court records, Fiol ultimately pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in a restricted building and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. Fiol’s first plea hearing was scheduled for Nov. 15.

A Crime Regardless

An anti-Trump poster questions those who attribute Fiol’s arrest to his online sharing of videos. “(the headline) implies that he is facing charges because he shared a video. No, he is facing charges because he was involved in an insurrection. He would still be involved in an insurrection if he had not made a video.

Imposing Consequences

A user in favor of harsh penalties ads, “Good, get them all, punish them to the fullest, deter anyone from trying this again. And yea, everything the friend said about Trump, I agree with.”
