She said, “SIL is the kind of mom that always has to get one-up on other kids. She constantly talks about how her kids are smarter, taller, faster, etc than her friends’ kids.”
They Pee More
The bragging extended to competing with every little thing her kids did. She even bragged about them peeing more than her friends’ kids when they were babies.
A Competition
She said, “It was worse when my husband and I had our twins. Suddenly everything was a competition that her kids always won.
Rolled Over
One of her girls rolled over at 4 months. So the sister-in-law responded by claiming that her son had rolled over when he was just a week old.
First Steps
The twins both took their first steps around 13 months. So the sister-in-law proudly announced that her daughter was running at just 4 months. She said, “She didn’t actually start walking until around 16 months.”
Children’s Weight
She even changed her kids’ birth weight. The new weight would make them both heavier than the current heaviest newborn in America.
Obvious Lies
She noted that it was so weird her SIL feels the need to tell such obvious lies. The people she lies to know she’s lying because they were there when her kids were small.
Annoying
The woman said, “I got annoyed when she went from lying about her own kids to telling me there is something wrong with mine. The girls are a few months shy of 2 and they’re both healthy, on track and hitting their milestones.”
Obsessed
She told readers, the SIL has become Obsessed with the idea that there is something wrong with them because they’re not speaking in long sentences. They’re not even two years old yet.
On Track
The woman pointed out, they’re both developmentally on track. The sister-in-law insisted that her children were speaking in 5-6 word phrases by 18 months. She said, “Her son is 7 and I can still barely understand a word the kid says.”
Tried to Ignore Her
She and her husband tried to ignore the SIL, but she took it too far. “I got a call from her friend who works in Early Intervention who was under the impression I was very concerned about my children,” she recalled.
Nothing to Worry About
After a long talk, her friend confirmed what she already knew. They were on track and there was nothing to worry about.
Lost Her Patience
She said that’s when she finally lost her patience. If her sister-in-law was telling the truth, her kids were breaking almost every record there is and that should be celebrated.
Family Dinner
The woman said “We had dinner with my husband’s family on Saturday while the kids were in another room. I decided it was the perfect time to give her my gift – a booklet I had printed and laminated called the White Claw Book of World Records.”
So-Called Milestones
She had printed all the supposed milestones of her sister-in-law’s kids. It was complete with photos and info of the actual world record holders, who would have been pushed to second place.
Laughter From the Husband
She flipped through the first couple of pages, went bright red and called her a few choice words. The woman said, “Her husband took it from her and got through the first page before laughing hysterically and asking her why the hell she was still lying.”
Stormed Out
The Sister-in-law stormed out but texted her later that night and asked why she’d humiliated her when all she’d ever tried to do was help her kids get the help they needed. She told her, “But if that’s how you want to treat me, I won’t try to help you anymore.”
A Win
The woman said “So, I guess that’s a win for me. I never wanted her kind of help.”
Peace at Last
