CBS News’ Bill Whitaker has recently made remarks in an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris about the health of President Biden, now 80 years old. He asked the VP what would happen if Biden could not run, saying donors had informed him “there would be a free-for-all.”

“We were talking to some Democratic donors and they have told us that, should something befall President Biden and he is not able to run, that there would be a free-for-all for who would run as president,” Whitaker told the VP. “You are in the spot that would be natural for you to step up but we’re hearing from donors that they would not naturally fall into line. Why is that?” Whitaker asked.

Biden Is Very Much Alive

When asked if she would step up to replace the 2024 presidency, Vice President Harris replied: ‘Well, first of all, I’m not gonna engage in that hypothetical because Joe Biden is very much alive and running for reelection. So, there we are.’

But That Is a Concern

“But that is a concern,” pushed Whitaker, “a legitimate concern, I would say.” Harris defiantly responded, “I hear from a lot of different people a lot of different things. But let me just tell you, I’m focused on the job. I truly am.”

Our Democracy Is on the Line

Harris continued, “Our democracy is on the line, Bill. And I frankly, in my head, do not have time for parlor games when we have a president who is running for reelection. That’s it.” Harris strongly stated.

Biden Down in the Polls

Whitaker noted to Harris that Biden and Trump were running neck and neck. He further stated that recent polls showed Biden’s approval rating from younger voters had dropped.

We’re Gonna Win

In response to Trump being tied with Biden in the polls, she stated, “I’m not a political pundit, so I’m not gonna speak to that. But what I will say is this. When the American people are able to take a close look at election time on their options, I think the choice is gonna be clear.”

“I Have No Doubt”

“We’re gonna win. And I’m not saying it’s gonna be easy. But we will win. I have no doubt,’ Harris said.

Young People Care About the Climate

Harris continued, “If you poll how young people feel about the climate and the warming of our planet, it polls as one of their top concerns. When we talk about what we are doing with student loan debt, polls very high. The challenge that we have as an administration is we gotta let people know who brung it to ’em.”

Lack of Media Coverage the Reason

Harris then added that a lack of media coverage was why Biden was polling so low.

Biden’s Recent Impeachment Inquiry

House Republicans have initiated an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. They initiated the investigation by outlining the allegations they intend to pursue, even though their expert witnesses have admitted that Republicans currently lack the evidence to substantiate the accusations they are making.

Republicans Have Not Found Evidence

As of now, none of the evidence presented indicates that Joe Biden received any financial gain from his son, Hunter Biden’s business activities. However, Republicans argue that the information they have uncovered so far justifies initiating the inquiry.

More Information Needs To Be Gathered

Bruce Dubinsky, a forensic accountant and GOP witness, recently undercut the Republicans’ main reasoning for the inquiry by saying they did not have sufficient evidence. “I am not here today to even suggest that there was corruption, fraud or wrongdoing,” Dubinsky said. “More information needs to be gathered before I can make such an assessment.”

Senior GOP Says It Is an Unmitigated Disaster

CNN recently reported that a senior GOP aide had told reporters, “You want witnesses that make your case. Picking witnesses that refute House Republicans arguments for impeachment is mind-blowing.” The senior GOP aide reportedly referred to the impeachment inquiry as “an unmitigated disaster.”

Speaker Says Federal Agencies “Evasive”

Mike Johnson, the newly elected speaker, recently spoke out and said they were impeded in their investigation by “evasive federal agencies” who were “openly and aggressively trying to protect the president.

Democrats Are “Whistling Past the Graveyard”

The recent interview with Harris and questions over Biden’s ability to continue his presidency sparked conversations online. One user posted, “It would be a godsend to Republicans. Democrats are currently whistling past the graveyard when it comes to a scenario where Kamala Harris leads the party because she is, by all metrics, extremely unpopular and polls horribly.”

An Awkward Endeavor

“But on that same note, it’s doubtful that there would even be a serious primary because it’s an awkward endeavor to try and push aside the first Black female VP. Democrats are stuck with her even though there is some real talent on their bench despite assertions otherwise,” the user concluded their post.

Don’t Underestimate Trump-Haters

Another user posted, “Don’t underestimate how much people don’t want Trump to be president again. They will turn out to rebuke him.”
