“Trump Has Spewed Out” Information “That Will Be Used Against Him”: Reporter Claims Trump Revealed Damning Info He Wasn’t Meant to in Testimony

Trump, in his anger, gave prosecutors information that “will be used against him,” according to a New York Times reporter.

A Costly Slip-Up

Maggie Haberman of the New York Times has said that former President and now-criminal defendant Donald Trump made a mistake while under oath. The slip-up could be costly as it gave New York Attorney General Letitia James information that could help her in her civil fraud lawsuit against him.

Taking Ownership of Financial Statements

Haberman made the comments on CNN, explaining that she “didn’t expect Trump to take ownership of the [financial] statements the way that he did.” The reporter spoke about how this contrasted the previous testimony of his sons, who both attempted to blame accountants.

Ignoring Legal Advice

Haberman was then asked why Trump took ownership of the financial statements. She quickly put it down to ignoring or forgetting legal advice. “I think sometimes he says things under oath that he doesn’t mean to say or that he has been coached not to say,” she said.

Planned Bad Behavior

Haberman went on to suggest that Trump’s poor behavior was intentionally planned: “I think that the performance that we saw in terms of him attacking Letitia James, attacking the judge, describing it all in very political terms – that was all very planned.”

Trump Is Angry

Finally, Haberman expressed her surprise at the former president’s words: “There’s no question about that. He is, to be clear, very, very angry about this case. But I was surprised by some of what he said that will be used against him as damages are being assessed in this case.”

Ranting and Tantruming

Given Trump’s behavior on social media, it’s not a stretch to believe he revealed information he wasn’t supposed to while testifying. The defendant clearly has issues with restraint, as evident in his habit of taking to social media to rant, rave, and tantrum every time something doesn’t go his way.

The Internet’s Response

News of Haberman’s words on CNN was shared across the internet and people were quick to discuss their opinions in comment sections. Quite a few people said that Trump is a narcissist who believes he can do whatever he wants, hence his giving up information that puts him at a disadvantage.

Emotional and Impulsive

Others said Trump is deeply emotional, angry in particular, and that his inability to control his impulses stems from that anger. These people suggested that the former president gave away too much information because he was so upset about the trial.

An Intelligent Lady

One social media commenter, clearly very impressed with New York Attorney General James’ handling of Trump, said: “Ms. James is an intelligent lady. She won’t let Trump’s admissions slip away. Very curious as to what Ivanka will say on the stand.”

The Evidence Is Out There

Another person wrote: “Why are these trials taking so long? We have all seen Trump’s traitorous, criminal, and fraudulent acts. The evidence is all out there. Americans want this idiot locked up so we can get on with our lives.”

Above the Law

Others discussed the way Trump seemingly thinks he’s above the law: “Trump thinks he’s allowed to do anything he wants. He’ll admit to the crime whether he’s giving a speech or he’s on the stand under oath.”

So Incredibly Stupid

Quite a few people called the former president an idiot: “The one saving grace about criminally minded lying lunatics like Trump is that, despite the fact that they believe they’re so smart, they’re so incredibly stupid! The prosecutors were the smart ones, allowing Trump to talk himself into conviction. Trump just made it easy for the judge. Plus, for his appeal to be rejected.”

Failing to Outsmart the Prosecution

Echoing the aforementioned individual, another commenter wrote: “Amazing how much info Trump has spewed out that will be used against him when he viewed it as outsmarting the prosecution! Just warms my heart!”

The Blindness of MAGA

One person found it difficult to believe that Trump’s fans still believe him to be innocent: “The crazy thing is that Trump is testifying under oath, admitting to crimes, and MAGA still doesn’t believe he did anything wrong. I really wish that they had the means to do what he did to see how far they would get if he did nothing wrong. That’s what it takes for some.”

A Stable Genius and Malignant Narcissist

Others referenced Trump’s previous “stable genius” claims: “Americans forget that Trump is a malignant narcissist! That means he can’t help but claim his crimes because no one does crime, let alone anything else, better than he – a stable genius!”

Bragging About Everything

The commenter continued: “He lies incessantly about even the most inconsequential things. He can’t distinguish which lie he told to which person and now he no longer knows what is a lie and what is a fact! But he does know how to brag about everything!”

The Smartest Businessmen in the World

Likely referring to the testimony of Trump’s sons, another person said: “Funny that the family that branded itself as the smartest businessmen in the whole world are now claiming they know nothing of how the business was run.”

A Very Angry Man

One individual summed up the situation very well, implying that the former president gave away too much information because he’s so angry about being held accountable: “Actions and reactions made in anger often result in making mistakes… and Trump is a very angry man.”
