In a recent live interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox News, Chris Christie issued a stark warning to his fellow Republicans who align with Donald Trump. He implored Republicans to “pull away from the precipice” as the walls were “closing in” on the former President.
What Does Christie Make Of Trump’s Cases?
Cavuto mentioned that Trump had taken the stand in his civil trial regarding his business holdings and referenced Trump’s fine of $10,000 for violating his gag order. What did you make of that? Cavuto asked Christie.
Trump “Can’t Shut Up”
Christie quickly responded, “He can’t shut up, Neil; he can’t help himself. He does what he always does, have his lawyers lie for him.” Christie further stated Trump’s attorney’s lies were always “insufficient,” and that’s why he got fined.
Christie Disturbed Over Trump’s Posts
“I am equally disturbed about the post he put out regarding Mark Meadows.” Christie was referring to a post made by Trump on Truth Social that read, “I don’t think Mark Meadows would lie about the Rigged and Stollen [sic] 2020 Presidential Election merely for getting IMMUNITY against Prosecution (PERSECUTION!) by Deranged Prosecutor, Jack Smith,”
Trump Intimidating the Witness
Trump’s post was deemed as intimidating and threatening to the witness, and continued by stating, “BUT, when you really think about it, after being hounded like a dog for three years, told you’ll be going to jail for the rest of your life, your money and your family will be forever gone, and we’re not at all interested in exposing those that did the RIGGING.”
You Can Keep Your Family
“ – If you say BAD THINGS about that terrible ‘MONSTER’, DONALD J TRUMP, we won’t put you in prison, you can keep your family and your wealth, and, perhaps, if you can make up some really horrible ‘STUFF’ about him, we may very well erect a statue of you in the middle of our decaying and now very violent Capital, Washington DC.” continued Trump in his post.
“Weaklings and Cowards” for Making Deals
“Some people would make that deal, but they are weaklings and cowards and so bad for the future of our Failing Nation. I don’t think that Mark Meadows is one of them, but who really knows?” Trump concluded his outburst.
Trump Faces Numerous Charges
Trump is confronted with a total of four federal charges linked to his efforts to reverse his loss to Biden in the 2020 election. Furthermore, the former President is dealing with 13 charges in Georgia related to racketeering and election fraud. Other lawsuits include numerous charges for retention of classified documents after leaving office and a wide range of civil suits relating to his business dealings.
“The Walls Are Closing In”
“Now look, the walls are closing in around him,” said Christie in his interview with Cavuto. “I understand that, and now, more importantly, he [Trump] understands that. I was there, Neil, in 2020 when Mark Meadows was chief of staff,” Christie explained.
Mark Meadows Velcroed to Trump
Christie went on to explain how Meadows “regularly” prepared Trump for debates against Biden. “…and I can tell you Mark Meadows was velcroed to Donald Trump’s hip in the Whitehouse at those times, and that means Mark Meadows knows everything,” Christie warned.
Meadows Knows Everything
Christie warned that Meadows knew everything that Trump “said and did and ordered” and “got other people to do on his behalf” and everything Trump was told, “to back up the facts to his contention that the Election was stolen.”
Trump Continues to Act Now as He Did Then
Christie continued to assert that Trump’s behavior had not changed from his time in office. “Yet he continued to act as he did then and as he does now.”
Clearly, an Attempt to Intimidate Witness
“The post was clearly an attempt to influence and intimidate Mark Meadows. Who now we have every reason to believe is a witness for the Government against Trump,” noted the Republican nominee. His conduct shows that “the walls are closing in on him.” “It’s not gonna be a “pretty campaign if he is the nominee of our Party,” he went on further to warn.
Pull Away From the Precipice
Christie then advised his Republican counterparts, “We need to pull away from the precipice here and pick someone who will actually make Joe Biden the focus of the next election, not Donald Trump.”
Meadows Entered Into a Partial Immunity Deal
Mark Meadows has reportedly entered into a partial immunity deal with the government, “although the details are unknown,” confirmed Cavuto.
Attorneys’ Testimony Could Be “Problematic”
Cavuto then asked Chris Christie what he thought about the lawyers who had already made deals with the prosecutors. He referred to Trump’s election fraud trial in Georgia, stating that it could be “problematic” for the former President. “Well, it’s really a problem when all your lawyers have admitted to committing crimes, that’s a problem,” he laughed.
What Kind of Lawyers?
“One, what kind of lawyers were you picking to have around you?” Christie rhetorically asked. Christie then answered his question, “The only lawyers who would agree to his ridiculous premise that the election was stolen.”
These Folks Are Gonna Talk
“These folks are gonna be able to talk about everything that they discussed with him [Trump] and just as importantly everything that he was told, especially by people like Pat Cipollone and Bill Barr, who have already testified that they told him that he had no basis to be doing any of this stuff.”
Trump Prophetically Warned
“One of them warned Trump that he would be spending the rest of his life in courtrooms and around lawyers if you continue this. And they were prophetic,” Christie declared.
