“The Christofascist Project Is Bigger Than Trump”: Trump Demands “Spineless Coward” Pence’s Endorsement

Donald Trump has called on his former VP Mike Pence to endorse his bid for the 2024 presidential election after the latter dropped out of the race. The pair have been at odds since the January 6 Capitol Attack wherein many of Trump’s followers chanted to hang Pence, and Trump’s new comments confirm there’s still tension between them.

Pence Failed to Gain Traction

Pence failed to make much of a splash in the Republican primary race among other contenders like Trump, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley. He was polling at 9.3% in July 2022 but never managed to reach those numbers again after officially launching his campaign back in June 2023.

Pence suspended his campaign at the weekend, announcing that “it’s become clear to me this is not my time,” sharing that he has “no regrets. The only thing that would have been harder than coming up short would have been if we never tried at all.” Pence failed to qualify for the upcoming GOP primary debate on November 8.

Trump Requests an Endorsement

Responding to Pence’s decision, Trump made a statement, declaring “he should endorse me. You know why? Because I had a successful presidency, and he was the vice president. He should endorse me. I chose him, made him vice president. But people, people in politics can be very disloyal. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Trump Remains the Frontrunner

Currently, Trump is the frontrunner to be the Republican candidate. “Everyone that leaves seems to be endorsing me,” Trump suggested at a rally, earning jeers from the audience. “You know people are leaving now, and they’re all endorsing me.”

Where Pence Went Wrong

As a former congressman, governor, and VP, Pence should’ve stood a much better chance at winning the Republican primary, but he was unable to connect with GOP members.

Pence’s Pledge

Before exiting the stage, Pence promised to “never leave the fight for conservative values” and to “never stop fighting to elect principled Republican leaders to every office in the land.”

January 6 Was Pence’s Breaking Point

After spending many years defending Trump and his administration, Pence failed to get behind Trump’s January 6 attack. Since then, he has frequently reaffirmed his belief that Trump should not be president again.

Trump’s Ultimatum

Upon launching his campaign, Pence shared that he even felt Trump should be banned from running again. “President Trump also demanded that I choose between him and the Constitution,” he revealed. “I chose the Constitution and I always will.”

Nobody Is Above the Constitution

Pence explained that Trump thought he was above the Constitution, asserting that “anyone who puts themselves over the Constitution should never be president of the United States. And anyone who asked someone else to put them over the constitution should never be president of the United States again.”

Trump’s Indictment

Pence has also pointed to Trump’s indictment over charges alleging he conspired against the US by attempting to overturn the 2020 election as the reason why he should never be president again.

More Scathing Criticism From Trump to Pence

In response to Pence’s remarks, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “WOW, it’s finally happened! Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side.” He went on to call Pence “delusional” and accused him of wanting “to show he’s a tough guy.”

Will Pence Endorse Trump Anyway?

People online are discussing whether Pence will endorse Trump regardless of their history. “He’ll probably do it,” one forum commenter ventured. “It’s been a while since Trump nearly had him killed. What is he supposed to do, hold a grudge?” another quipped.

Shameless Politicians

Many commenters noted that several Republicans previously went on to endorse Trump no matter what. “Remember when Trump called Ted Cruz’s wife ugly and the loser still endorses him? These GOP politicians don’t have any shame,” one person said.

The Internet Savages Pence

“Spineless Pence is now trying to figure out how to both endorse and chastise him, both at the same time,” one user remarked. “He’ll quickly and proudly support him. They’re all spineless cowards,” another concurred.

Pence’s Long Term Goals

Several people mentioned how Pence’s ideology is rooted in his evangelical Christianity, and that he will always prioritize this over his clashes with Trump. “The Christofascist project is bigger than Trump. He’ll endorse,” one person stated.

In Defence of Mike Pence

Many forum users felt driven to defend Pence in light of Trump’s mocking comments. “Imagine making us defend Mike Pence,” one person said. “When upholding the United States Constitution is “gone to the dark side” you know EVERYTHING you needed to know about Trump!!” another exclaimed.

People Are Sick of Trump

“I’m so sick of “tiny hands” Trump’s silly nicknames. No innocent person behaves like this criminal,” one commenter ranted. Few people had good things to say about either the former president or the former VP. “Pence better testify,” one wrote, “then I never want him or Trump anywhere near politics ever again.”
