A woman shared how her homeless dad used her in his money scheme, so she got revenge by taking it all.
Trauma
She said, “My dad was only in my life actively from ages 0-7 and in that time gave me a ton of trauma. He was a hardcore alcoholic, manipulator, and a lot of other things I can’t say.”
Mom Left Him
“My mom being the strong person she is, left him. For a short while, we did weekends at his place,” she recalled.
Never Ending Cycle
She described it as a never-ending cycle of him drinking, being a jerk, then buying them over with animals and gifts. After getting several dui’s, unpaid child support, and a few child endangerment cases, he left to avoid going to jail.
Disappeared
The woman said, “He disappeared, left the animals locked in the house that he abandoned, and shut off his phone. Every few months or so he would randomly show up at my school drunk, crying with gifts in his hand, or leaving notes on our door.”
School Had a Plan
Her school had to implement a safety plan because her mom was scared her dad would take her away from school grounds. He stopped showing up, and she didn’t hear from him for about 13 years.
Facebook Message
When she was 20, he messaged her on Facebook saying he would love to get to know her. He asked if there was anything she needed financially.
Initial Response
She described her initial response as feeling sick to her stomach and crying. This quickly turned to anger.
She Was Broke
She said, “I was broke and really could use the money and I mean he owed me, right? I told him I would meet and needed money for rent.
Looked Homeless
“When I saw him, my stomach turned, she said. “He looked like the crazy guy you see on the side of the road begging for money.”
Talking Nonsense
He wasn’t making much sense. Then, criticized her mom, saying she was a liar and turned her and her siblings against him. He said that his brother (her uncle who she never had a relationship with) would no longer give him money, but would wire transfer for her if asked.
Lied to His Brother
He told his brother I needed and had asked for $1500. She said, “He told me he would take 500 and give me 1000. His rubbish burner phone ran out of minutes, so one of the calls to his brother was made from my phone.”
No I.D
He didn’t have an I.D. So she would need to pick it up with him. She explained that when someone wires you money, they get a code that you give to collect the money.
Wouldn’t Give Her the Code
Her dad wouldn’t give her the code until they were physically at the place to pick it up, which they planned to do the following morning. She decided on a different plan.
Texted Her Uncle
She decided to text her uncle, since she now had his number. She asked him for the code.
Picked up the Money
The woman said, “I got the code, picked up the money, and blocked my dad. He made sure to leave me some deranged voicemails about how nasty I am.”
He Used Me
“He pretty much used me to get money from his brother,” she fumed. “If he really wanted to be in my life he would have taken the proper steps to do so and change but he never did.”
Yes, It Was Bad
She said she wasn’t denying what she did to her dad was bad, but he means nothing to her. She also needed the money and knew her uncle could afford it.
Didn’t Steal Anything
She said, “He thought he was sending money to go to me and help me out….the money went to me and helped me out. And of course, I thanked him.”
Got To Know Her Uncle
The woman said, she also got to know her uncle who she hadn’t known the contact details for prior to her dad’s crazy idea. She visits him regularly.
Rescued Animals
As a side note, because several readers were asking her, she confirmed that the animals her dad abandoned were rescued as soon as they realized he was gone. She said, the poor animals were mistreated, but alive, and went to good homes where they were treated better.
