Donald Trump just cannot stay quiet — even in the middle of the night. That’s when the former president used his Truth Social network to launch his latest tirade against a judge who has already fined him thousands of dollars for violating a gag order.
Trump Target
Trump also raged again against New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, who brought a case alleging fraud at the Trump Organization against the former president, his adult sons and several company executives.
‘Corrupt’ NY Attorney General
Trump wrote: “In the Fake Biden Inspired Fraud Case against me, brought by the CORRUPT A.G., Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James of New York State, a sadly Crime Infested Place, where people and businesses are fleeing to other States in record numbers, it is her and the highly partisan Judge, who has been overturned many times, who defrauded me and the public by valuing my assets at a fraction of what they are worth in order to try and convict me, without a trial or jury, of FRAUD.”
Lower Value of Florida Home
In his Truth Social post, Trump railed against the New York court’s appraisal of his Mar-a-Lago resort home in Florida as being far less than what he considers it’s worth.
Trump ‘the Victim’
A clearly furious Trump said Attorney General James had gotten Judge Arthur Engoron, who is overseeing the fraud trial in Manhattan, “to Value Mar-a-Lago at $18,000,000, when it is worth 50 to 100 times that amount. My assets are worth MUCH MORE than listed on the 100% DISCLAIMED Financial Statements, and there are NO VICTIMS, EXCEPT ME.”
‘Inflated Value of Trump Properties’
The trial alleges that the Trump Organization vastly exaggerated the size and value of its properties in New York, including Trump Tower, where the former president has a penthouse. It has heard testimony from a former executive at Deutsche Bank — where Trump has long secured loans — who said the financial institution valued Trump properties at far less than the Trump Organisation did.
‘Convincing Evidence’ of Fraud
Judge Engoron has already found “convincing evidence” that “years-long” fraud had been committed by the Trump Organization, in order to get cheap loans and insurance. The judge has revoked several of Trump’s licenses to do business in New York and prosecutors are seeking a fine of at least $250 million.
Gag Order and Breach
A gag order was imposed on Trump after he criticized a senior clerk of Judge Engoron, who only days later fined the defendant $5,000 for being in breach of the order — by failing to remove the critical social media post. Any further breaches of the order would result in bigger fines and possibly jail, the judge warned.
Another Gag Order
Trump is also under gag order in a separate case, involving federal charges that he attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election after losing to Joe Biden. Following lengthy arguments from Trump lawyers, the order has been temporarily lifted.
‘Miscarriage of Justice’
In his early morning Truth Social post, Trump repeated his claim that the New York fraud trial was all about stopping him from being elected president again.
“We WON on Statute of Limitations, and other things, at the Appeals Court, AND THIS RADICAL LEFT, TRUMP HATING JUDGE, REFUSES TO ACCEPT THEIR DECISION. THIS CASE SHOULD BE DROPPED, IMMEDIATELY. IT’S AMAZING! HE IS OUT OF CONTROL, AND TOTALLY AFRAID OF PEEKABOO. A COMPLETE MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE & ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” he said.
Frontrunner for Republican Nomination
Trump, 77, is the leading Republican field to be nominated as the party’s candidate for the 2024 presidential election following primaries that take place in January. Recent polls put him at close to 60 percent of Republican voter support while his nearest rivals, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, are languishing around 10 percent and less.
Trump as Mandela
Speaking at a rally in New Hampshire on Monday — hours after his Truth Social rant — Trump compared himself to late South African president and anti-apartheid campaigner Nelson Mandela, referring to his election-interference case.
“If you want to challenge the result of an election, they hound you. But we don’t get scared — we don’t get scared. I’ll tell you what, I don’t mind being Nelson Mandela, because I’m doing it for a reason,” he told supporters.
‘Beat the Hell Out of Biden’
Trump also took a swing at President Biden, telling those at the rally that he remembered the incumbent saying that he would take him “behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.”
“I dream of that,” Trump told the crowd. “You know what I’d do with him? I’d hit him right in that fake nose. He’d have plastic lying all over the floor.”
