A man shared his story of how he drank a strong beer so he wouldn’t be forced to babysit his aunt’s kids.
Three Kids
He began by saying, “My aunt has three kids who were under the age of 10 at the time. At every family gathering, I (23m) became the babysitter by default, despite me not wanting to, so the adults could drink.”
Always Missing Special Occasions
He said that he missed out on occasions that his aunt was also invited to. From christenings to Christmas celebrations, he was only ever invited to perform babysitting duties.”
Aunt’s Birthday
He was invited to his aunt’s birthday dinner. The man’s mom promised that he wouldn’t have to babysit this time, because the kids would be at a friend’s house.
He Agreed
The man agreed, thinking how it would make a nice change to be part of a family gathering, without having to be the babysitter. He was even looking forward to it.
A Loud Greeting
As soon as he stepped into their home, he was greeted by ear-splitting screams from the two oldest kids about how much they had missed him. The toddler was shrieking with delight.
Lied To
He said, “I immediately realized I had been lied to. Normally, I don’t drink, because I’m a huge lightweight. Since this was a special occasion, I had planned to have a few drinks.”
Beer
His aunt entered the hall to greet his mom, while he reached into his backpack for one of two beers he had brought with him. Then, he walked into the living room and opened one of them.
Drinking With His Uncle
He gave the other beer to his uncle and they had a drink together. They took the chance to catch up as they gulped their beers.
Screaming Aunt
About three minutes later, his aunt saw the beer can and started screaming at him. She said he shouldn’t be drinking while watching the kids.
Not Babysitting
The man repeated his mom’s promise that he wouldn’t be there as a babysitter. The aunt called him a few insulting names in response.
Asked for $200
He said, “So I reached out my hand and asked for 200 bucks for emergency babysitting and I wouldn’t finish the can of beer. She refused, so I chugged the rest of the half-litre can to the loud cheers and laughs from my dad and uncle.”
Slurred Words
When he was done he wished her a happy birthday, slurring and mixing up his words. He finished with a huge burp.
Embarrassed Mom
His mom looked embarrassed for his aunt. The kid’s dad ended up watching them the entire night instead.
Not Invited Again
He finished by saying, “My aunt hasn’t invited me since. I think her husband might schedule a vasectomy soon.”
Forced To Babysit
