A man shared how the property he bought was being used by neighbors and how he got expensive revenge on them.
Work Needed
He said, “The house needed some work done before I moved in. It was empty on the market for between 6 and 8 months before I bought it.”
Move the Cars
One morning, he got a call from his contractor, asking him to move the cars in the driveway. He had no idea what cars he was talking about, as he hadn’t moved in yet.
Left Work
He left work early and drove nearly a half hour to get there. As soon as he arrived, the neighbors on the east side were walking toward the cars.
Permission to Park
He asked if these were their cars and they said yes. They told him they had been parking there for a few months with permission from the owners.
New Owner
He said, “I informed them that I was the new owner and they can’t park there any longer. We went back and forth, and I wanted to be a good neighbor.”
A Few More Weeks
He allowed them to park there for a few more weeks until he moved in. The agreement was that they would move their vehicles by 6am every morning.
Walk-Through
The rest of the week went by without incident. The contractor called him about scheduling a walk-through on the Saturday, and they set a time for early afternoon.
4 Cars
When he arrived, there were 4 cars in the driveway and nowhere to park. The only on-street parking was 2 blocks away. He asked the neighbors to move their vehicles, reminding them of their agreement. After 20 minutes, they finally moved them.
Misunderstood
He said, “Speaking with them, they claimed to have misunderstood and thought our agreement only referred to weekdays and not weekends. I corrected them and moved on.”
Sunday Morning
On Sunday morning, the man loaded some furniture into a trailer to take over and store in the garage. Once again, there were cars in the driveway.
Tow Truck Threat
He called the neighbors and got their voicemail. So, he texted and said they had until a tow truck could arrive, to get them moved. After no response, he called a tow company.
Forty-Five Minutes
Forty-five minutes later, 2 tow trucks showed up, backed in, and hooked up to the cars. Suddenly, the neighbors were home. They ran out to stop their cars from being towed, and it ended up costing them a little over $300 to get them unhooked.
Made a Call
He called his contractor and asked if he knew someone who could put in a driveway gate, and he did. Then he let the neighbors know that they could no longer use his driveway.
Gate Installation
On Wednesday, he got a call from the gate installer, saying there were cars in the driveway. So, he called the neighbors and said tow trucks were on the way. They moved their cars and the gate was installed.
Confrontation
The next time he went to his property, one of the neighbors came out to confront him. The man opted to just call the Police, and deal with the situation legally.
Items Left Behind
The following Saturday, he went by to accept an outdoor furniture delivery and check on things. That’s when he noticed a towel beside the pool and a small kid’s flotation device. His initial thought was that he hadn’t noticed them before, then he threw them both in the trash.
Moving In
On Saturday, the movers arrived with everything and they began moving things in. Around 7pm, the man and his daughter left to get some dinner. They arrived back at the house around 9:30pm.
Neighbors in the Pool
The neighbors were in his pool. They were hanging out and using his furniture. When he opened the door and began yelling, the adults told the kids to go to the house, then the children ran to a corner of the fence and just walked through it.
Called the Police
They had cut out the privacy fence so it could be removed and had been using the pool at their leisure. He said, “Again, I called the police and filed a complaint. The dad was arrested for trespassing, DPP, and an outstanding warrant, and the oldest boy (20M) for an outstanding warrant.”
Replaced the fence
He replaced the fence with a new one because they had destroyed the posts, runners and pickets by removing and reinstalling the panel. Small claims awarded him costs, which came to $3,800.
Not Been Paid Yet
He finished by saying, “I haven’t been paid yet, but I did notice a for rent sign in their yard this morning. So that’s just as good.”
