Didn’t Know How To Cook
He said, “My old college roommate didn’t know how to cook or do dishes. In fact, he didn’t go food shopping much.”
Cooking
The man said he enjoyed cooking, but to save money, he would buy in bulk and cook larger portions, Then, he would make the leftovers last another one or two meals.
Lack of Skills
Because of the roommate’s lack of culinary skills, he was always stealing the man’s food, especially his leftovers. Those were easiest for him because they were prepared meals.
Asked Him To Stop
He said, “I asked him to stop, and explained that I would use my leftovers to meal prep for later in the week, and him eating those made it expensive as well as inconvenient for me. The behavior did not stop and he seemed to be eating more of my food out of spite.”
Tried To Keep Food Away From Him
He explained that he tried to keep food away from the roommate. For example, he had a mini fridge in his room, but it wasn’t big enough to store everything.
Bought Food Each Day
He even tried buying just what he needed for each day. However, that was more expensive than his previous method of bulk buying and cooking in batches.
Roommate Would Complain
When there was no food for the roommate to steal, he would complain. This included getting angry for no reason, dropping hints about how hungry he was, and asking why there wasn’t any food in the house.
Baked a Cake
Eventually, the man decided on a way to punish him, He said, “I baked a chocolate cake with habanero peppers and mixed the frosting with wasabi. I labeled it with my name and a bold ‘Do Not Eat’, then I waited.”
Couldn’t Stomach Spicy Foods
He explained that his roommate had a very low tolerance for spicy food. He assumed he would take one bite quickly and realize the error of his ways.
Two Days Later
The man recalled, “About two days later, him and a couple of his friends got really drunk while I was at work and decided to dig into my food. Somehow, they ate about a third of it before realizing.”
Throwing Up
They threw up from the combination of drinking too much and eating overly spicy foods. He said, “Then, they got hit by the cake a 2nd time. I Don’t know for sure, but it couldn’t have felt good coming out of both ends.”
Why?
When the roommate asked him why he made this monstrosity, he told him he found a chocolate habanero recipe online that he wanted to try. The roommate stopped eating his cooking after that.
