Living in a Small Town
He explained, “I’m 28 years old and live in a small town where there is a lack of jobs. I moved back in with my parents since we have a good relationship.”
Paying for Bills and Groceries
He bought all the groceries and paid some of the household bills. His little sister, aged 16 at the time, was not happy.
Move Out Again
She told him he should be a man and move out again. She began to continuously call her older brother a freeloader and a parasitic leech.
Anti-Tech Parents
He described his parents as anti-tech. “They are not part of a religious cult, they just avoid tech and live a simplistic life,” he said.
They Don’t Buy Gadgets
The man said, the only modern tech his parents use is a laundry machine, a car, a flip phone, and a TV. They would never take away his or his sister’s gadgets if they paid for them.
Looked After
He insisted they were well looked after, with enough food and clothing, etc. However, his childhood made him stand out in all the wrong ways and the other children thought not having tech was weird.
Turned 18
He said, “When I turned 18 and was looking for my first job I had to handwrite a resume since we didn’t have a computer or a printer. It was impossible to get a full-time job here because of the small job market in our town.”
Found Part-Time Work
After being lucky enough to find part-time work, he built up his skills and experience. He could also contribute financially.
Bought His Sister Some Tech
Despite his sister’s cruel name-calling and poor opinion of him, he bought her a PC, a smartphone, and a data mobile plan. He didn’t want her to go without like he had to as a child, but this didn’t stop her from treating him badly.
Came up With a Plan
He said, “Eventually, my little sister’s constant name calling got on my nerves. So, I came up with a plan to get my own back.”
Cancelled the Data Plan
His first step was to cancel. However, he didn’t stop there and went on to take back everything he had bought her.
