Maryland Representative Steny Hoyer clashed with Republican Representative Boebert, who gained additional notoriety following her recent “Beetlejuice” scandal. Hoyer delivered a stern lesson to Boebert when his exasperation peaked after she introduced amendments to a bill without understanding its content.

Amendment to Prohibit Funds to Sanctuary Cities

Boebert presented her suggested amendment to the financial services and general government appropriations bill, asserting that it aimed to prohibit “the use of funds made available by this act to be used to provide financial assistance to sanctuary cities.”

Amendment Causes Confusion

“I rise in perplexion,” During the House floor debate, Hoyer requested the far-right Republican to explain her amendment. “What funds in this bill are used for the purposes that you are opposed to?” Hoyer asked.

Boebert took a momentary break and asked her colleagues for assistance before replying: “Sorry, I couldn’t hear, gentleman. I was getting clarification. This is precautionary.” “Precautionary for what?” Hoyer asked, still seemingly confused.

Boebert Rejects Funding for Sanctuary City Policies

Boebert then began to babble about “sanctuary city policies that are in place that are allowing the refuge of illegal aliens in this, and there is an influx of crime and drugs in these cities.” “I understand that,” Hoyer stated, “but what you’ve said, none of the funds in this bill can be spent for that objective.” “What funds are in this bill that are to be spent for this objective?” Hoyer expressed frustration and reiterated his request for Boebert to clarify her proposed amendment.

Funds Used to Protect Illegal Aliens

Boebert sidetracked Hoyer’s question, saying, “I have seen this administration use all sorts of funds to protect illegal aliens.”

Reclaiming My Time

“Reclaiming my time. There are no funds in this bill to do that,” Hoyer declared. “So this is just an opportunity for you to stand and perhaps speak about an important subject, I understand that. But there are no funds in this bill to accomplish that objective.”

Boebert Well Known for Being Unprepared

Boebert has previously demonstrated a lack of readiness on the House Floor. On another occasion during an amendment process, she couldn’t find her proposed amendment, and she is gaining a reputation for her peculiar and attention-grabbing theatrics.

Boebert Stalled Another Spending Debate

A different House debate encountered a delay while deliberating on the 2024 Agriculture and FDA Spending bill. Boebert faced difficulties in locating her own amendment, and the camera shifted to capture the Congresswoman, who was observed looking down at her phone. “Madame Chair, one moment,” said Boebert, rushing to find it.

Requested to Reduce a Salary to $1

Boebert proposed an amendment to “reduce the salary of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Food and Nutrition Service of the Department of Agriculture, Stacy Dean, to $1,”

Boebert’s Beetlejuice Scandal

Boebert recently sparked controversy and grappled with the enduring repercussions of an awkward incident. She was captured on tape vaping and engaging in inappropriate behavior with a date during a performance of “Beetlejuice.”

Boebert Dancing in Her Seat

In the surveillance footage, she was observed placing her hand to her mouth and exhaling a vapor cloud. When the lights dimmed, Boebert was shown dancing in her seat and seemingly capturing selfies.

Laughing and Singing Too Loud

Only a few days after, Boebert posted on social media in an attempt to excuse her behavior. She wrote, “It’s true, I did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre, and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud!”

Theatre Released Camera Surveillance

Nevertheless, the Buell Theater disclosed video clips from surveillance cameras showing the Congresswoman and her companion being escorted out of the theater by the venue’s staff.

Behavior Was Unacceptable

In her statement afterward, Boebert acknowledged that she was in the midst of a divorce and admitted that her conduct was unacceptable. “I genuinely did not recall vaping that evening when I discussed the night’s events with my campaign manager,” she said. “We do understand the nature of how this looks.”

Boebert Threatened Theatre Staff

According to theater staff, Boebert commented, “Do you know who I am?” and “I will be contacting the mayor” when being escorted out of the building. Theater staff said they called the police, and they left once an officer was on the way.

Trying to Regain Support

The recent scandal has significantly complicated Boebert’s reelection campaign, especially amid numerous missteps during debates. Boebert is working to bring back support by apologizing to voters at campaign events for behavior that has even surprised her fellow Republicans.

Adam Frisch Leading Boebert

Adam Frisch Boebert’s rival nominee also took to social media to comment on her lack of knowledge in Congress. He posted, “Lauren Boebert doesn’t understand legislating. She’s in Congress to grandstand, and that’s it. Help me defeat her next fall.” He then shared a picture of a poll where he was leading Boebert by 2 points.

She’s a Snotty Kid

Kim Masters from the Hollywood Reporter posted in response to her lack of aptitude, “She’s a snotty, scared kid trying to pretend she did her homework,”

Elect Clowns, Expect a Circus

“There are a lot of clowns in the GOP caucus, and it’s a tough race, but I think she is emerged as the biggest one,” posted another. Another user posted a picture of Boebert, Greene, and Matt Gaetz with the text “Elect Clowns, Expect a Circus.”
