A court order that was published on Thursday stated a two-day hearing in Mr Trump’s legal action is set to start on October 16.  The former U.S. president is bringing a data protection claim against Orbis Business Intelligence, Steele’s company, as well as the former MI6 agent. The suit was initially filed in November last year.  No other details of the claim are currently available.

The Steele Dossier included allegations that Trump had been “compromised” by the Russian security service known as the FSB.  The dossier was leaked to BuzzFeed in 2017 and alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin “supported and directed” an operation to “cultivate” Trump. The intention being to cultivate him as a presidential candidate for “at least five years.”

Trump’s Response

Trump has repeatedly denied the claims made in the dossier. The former president has also previously called Steele a “lowlife” and dismissed any suggestions that he has ties to Russia or that they helped him in the 2016 election.

Steele was working for the Washington-based search firm, Fusion GPS, in June 2016 when he was tasked with examining Trump’s links to Russia.  The Democratic National Committee and the campaign of Hillary Clinton had hired the Fusion GPS company after Trump was poised to be the Republican nominee in the 2016 election.
