Donald Trump recently took to his Truth Social to share his latest thoughts on the Biden administration. He posted about his opinions on their handling of the country and the debates taking place. These comments set social media alight, with both supporters and detractors weighed in with strong feelings.
Trump’s Latest Post
In a direct attack on President Biden, Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, exclaiming, “Republicans should not debate, they should UNITED in defeating the WORST & MOST INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.” Trump’s words have energized some while infuriating others.
The Lowest-Rated Debate?
Adding to his critique of the debate format, Trump stated, “The last debate was the lowest-rated debate in history. The next, and probably last one, in Miami, will do even worse.” His prediction about the upcoming third debate has sparked speculation and chatter among political analysts and viewers alike.
Rally Over Debate
However, it is important to note these comments after the announcement that Trump will not attend the third presidential debate. This November 8th debate, which is scheduled to be held in Miami, will include moderation by NBC. Instead of attending, Trump decided to host a political rally.
A Trend for Trump?
This isn’t the first time Trump has sidestepped formal debates. During the first debate, which was in Milwaukee, Trump chose an interview with ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Notably, this episode aired at the exact time the debate was happening, presenting an alternative to those not interested in the formal discussion.
Michigan Over California
Trump’s non-traditional approach continued as he missed the second debate in California. Instead, he redirected his attention to Michigan, addressing workers during the significant United Auto Workers (UAW) union strikes. He highlighted his focus on the American workforce and key issues affecting them by doing so.
GOP’s Reactions
Even with these ongoing debate controversies, several Republicans have been vocal about their disagreements with Trump. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, during the second debate, pointedly said, “Donald Trump is missing in action. He owes it to you to defend his record where they added $7.8 trillion to the debt, that set the stage for the inflation that we have now.”
Christie’s Take
Similarly, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie expressed his thoughts on Trump’s decision to sidestep debates. He claimed that Trump’s avoidance was not in the party’s best interest. Instead, it was for “purely selfish reasons because he doesn’t want to give exposure to the candidates who are challenging him out there.”
Trump’s Popularity
Despite these controversies and criticisms, Trump’s standing within the GOP remains robust. Various state and national polls showcase him as the frontrunner for the Republican Party. In fact, he is several points ahead of DeSantis. These polls suggest that his base remains largely unwavering despite the debate fiasco.
Youth Support
However, one interesting part of Trump’s support system is the youth vote. An Emerson College poll shed light on this. This poll revealed that among younger voters, Trump narrowly edged out Biden with a 47% approval. The results were close, though Biden trailed close behind with a 45% backing.
Where Do Others Stand?
Even so, it’s evident that the race isn’t just about Trump and Biden. Other GOP hopefuls like DeSantis and Nikki Haley are also in the fray, with each securing an 8% support from the youth. However, aside from Biden and Trump, no other candidate has been able to break into double digits nationally.
Trump’s Jabs at GOP Hopefuls
Trump didn’t spare his GOP competitors either, especially targeting DeSantis. He pointedly remarked on Truth Social, “Looks like Ron DeSanctimonious has fallen to 3rd place in his ridiculous run.” Further, he mentioned how DeSantis “destroying Social Security and Medicare hasn’t exactly helped him!”
More Trump Zingers
Beyond DeSantis, Trump also had words for Haley, another GOP contender. Taking to his platform, he observed, “Birdbrain, who may be even worse, is fighting it out with others for a very distant 2nd place.” He seemed to enjoy highlighting the competition for the runner-up spot, emphasizing her struggle.
Public’s Response
Trump’s comments, as expected, sparked a flurry of reactions from the general public. Many took to social media to voice their opinions, both supporting and opposing. One direct response highlighted his behavior, saying, “So in other words … don’t show the country how you really stack up against the opponent on important issues just unite in bullying, spreading smear campaigns and lies!”
Trump’s Delusional Perception
Another one of the reactions pointed out, “Yep, Trump believes America wants a leader who mocks, deceives, makes fun of vets, lies, and acts like a child, he is so delusional!” How deluded can he be?” Other users shared this view, saying, “Goodness gracious…this man is a loser” and “Who cares what this criminal says?”
A Plea for Unity
However, some users did agree with Trump’s calls for unity. One user noted, “Republicans and Dems need to unite for the good of the country.” Another user agreed, saying, “I think reasonable minds can say that they’re really tired of the rhetoric and divisiveness. This country needs to come together to solve the problems we now face.”
Does Trump’s Voice Matter
With a mix of anger and criticism, one user said, “The world is changing, and we’re stuck listening to a whining child …..VOTE BLUE!!!” One user commented how even some Republicans agreed with this, as “Magas are even dumping Trump. Finally figuring out they’ve been duped for years!”
Trump’s Declining Popularity?
Additionally, some users spoke in more detail about Trump’s apparent declining popularity. One user stated, “Only 6 Million people signed up to follow him on Truth Social. Trump begs them to show up and support him, and they don’t show. At one of his NYC hearings, he asked for them to support him, and only one person showed.”
Doubting Trump’s Bravado
Others spoke about the apparent cowardice in Trump’s actions. One comment read, “Such a cowardly display, unparalleled in American history. Afraid to debate, testify, or face challenging situations. A tragedy that we have such a loser ex-POTUS” – so afraid yet tries so hard to appear tough.”
