Presidential hopeful Donald Trump is keeping up his criticism of rival Ron DeSantis, blasting the Governor of Florida, who is trailing in the polls — and also having a go at his favorite broadcaster, Fox News. But some Americans are getting tired of the constant whining and want him to just “go away and leave us alone.”
‘Really Bad Spending’
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, using his derogatory nickname for DeSantis:
“Not only is DeSanctimonious looking to destroy your Social Security, including moving the minimum age to 70, and your Medicare, but today he had a killer story in the Washington Post talking about his really bad spending habits.”
Trump Tirade
The former president — who failed to get re-elected in 2020, losing to Joe Biden and calling the ballot “rigged” — continued his social media rant against DeSantis, while taking aim at Fox News.
“He’s gone, yet Fox has him all over the place, even on Hannity last night. They’ve actually picked another candidate, they just don’t know who it is yet…Ratings Freefall! I’m America First, so it will never be me!”
DeSantis Campaign Implosion
The Florida governor’s well-funded presidential campaign had gotten off to a good start, but his hardline stance on emotive issues like abortion didn’t go down well with voters, and he quickly lost ground.
Not Much Competition
DeSantis had been Trump’s main rival but now is around 40 points below the former president, giving Trump a massive lead over the entire Republican field. Others hoping to get the party’s nomination to run for president in 2024 include Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence; businessman Vivek Ramaswamy; and former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley — all polling in single digits compared to Trump’s circa-60% dominance.
Trump Media Disdain
Back on social media, Trump was again blasting the media — this time for not reporting his polling position.
“Best polls ever but rarely shown on television. Leading by 50 and 60 points. Just like they don’t like showing our big rally crowds, they don’t like showing our great poll numbers,” he complained.
Falling Out with Fox
At one time, Trump had loved conservative news channel Fox, frequently appearing on its shows and sharing its content on social media, but now the 77-year-old appears to have nothing but disdain for the outlet.
Fox and Not Friends
Trump again said, in a post on his social media network, that the election he lost was “rigged” — and so was the news media, including television.
Trump Legal Woes
The former president is facing a mountain of federal and civil charges, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and business fraud in New York.
Trump and Biden Race
Trump has also been busy lashing out on social media about his apparent rival in next year’s presidential election — President Joe Biden.
‘Hopeless’ Biden
While many, including in the Democratic Party, have concerns about President Biden’s age (he’s 81 next month) — and recent mumbling and rambling comments on live TV — Trump doesn’t see that as a concern. He’s just not up to the job, said Trump.
Biden Insult
Trump said it was Biden’s lack of ability, not his age, that was the issue.
“I have many friends that are in their 80s. I have friends – Bernie Marcus – that are in their 90s and they’re sharp as a tack. I mean, I would say just about what they used to be. [Biden’s] incompetent. He’s not too old. He’s incompetent,” he wrote.
‘Never Good’
Trump continued his insult, charging that Biden had a history of never being competent.
“You look at some of the great world leaders. They were in their 80s. So many people, they were phenomenal in their 80s. There’s great wisdom if you’re not in a position like him. But if you go back 25 years, he wasn’t in the sharpest tack either.”
‘Treasonous, Simpleton’ Trump
But not everyone was impressed by Trump’s latest outpouring of scorn against his political rivals.
“It’s almost impossible to imagine how much of an intellectual and moral deficiency one would have to have to have ever supported the petty, vindictive, cowardly, lying, treasonous, simpleton Trump,” one person remarked on X, formerly known as Twitter.
No Love for Republicans
And other user on X made their opinion about Trump and his Republican Party colleagues known.
“It’s no wonder that the educated, moral, rational, civilized people of the world look down on the vulgar, primitive, regressive American right-wingers with revulsion, horror, and disgust,” they wrote.
‘Go Away, Trump’
Yet another person commented that Trump would do anything to get back into the White House, including starting a war.
“I wish he would just go away and leave us alone. He’d start a civil war if he had to in order to be in power. The lives of Americans have no value to him, even those of his own supporters.”
“They Came With Love in Their Hearts and It Was a Beautiful Day” Trump on January 6th Rioters Who He Promises To Pardon When Elected
Vanity Fair recently issued a report discussing how falsehoods that would typically ruin a politician’s chance of success seem to have the opposite effect on Trump and boost his voter base and popularity.
